I took the original shot when the Boyfriend and I were at Thorpe Park last week, just after we had come off this roller coaster. I liked the idea that this signified just about the exact point that the big adrenaline rush kicks in.

1. 4:30 of the AM

Get up.
Spend five minutes studying trousers thinking as I do so, “I don’t remember my work trousers having pockets.”
Try putting them on, then realising they don’t fit, start to panic that I’ve shrunk them in the dryer.
Spend five minutes continuing to try fitting into them, cursing myself a lot before it dawns on my that they aren’t actually my trousers.

2. 5:10 of the AM

Get in my car and spend several minutes readjusting everything as it was last driven by the other half, and wishing I could afford a car with memory seats.
Plug in my iPhone and iPod, start it up and set off. As I look at the house opposite my car park, I find I can’t read the sign by the door, 20 feet away from me. Realise I haven’t put in my contact lenses. Neither am I wearing my glasses. Life truly is a blur.

3. 2.45 of the PM

Get home from work.
Since I have nowhere else to go today, I decide to get changed into comfy clothes and veg out. This is when I realise my über comfy one piece support bra, really lives up to its name, as it appears I’ve been wearing it back to front all day.

As long as I don’t repeat myself tomorrow, I think I’ll be OK…..

The third in the Detective Michael Bennett series, and possibly the best so far.

I can honestly say I cannot remember the last time a book had me really laughing out loud, but this one achieved that on numourous occasions.

The combination of wizardry and the metropolitan police is simply pure genius, and long may this series continue.

The second in the DI John Spicer novels, and another re-read, now I can move on the the next four novels which I have but haven’t read yet.

I’ve spent so much time reading this year I’ve caught up with many of the serial characters I have been reading, hence the last few re-reads. I’m now in a position to go back to where I’ve halted in olders series and bring myself up to date there too.

It’s not very often that I re-read a James Patterson, but it’s been at least five years since I read it, and I just bagged the next three in the series for £3 from a charity shop and so wanted to refresh my memory of the character before I started reading my way through that chunk of books.

It’s also not a bad story although I did feel a little cheated at the way Detective Bennett ‘discovers’ who was behind all the crimes.

I’d forgotten how much I get confused by the chronology of this book. It’s good though, with a great plot, and is a fantastic introduction to DI John Spicer.

I want to be Jack Troutbeck.
